The Assault Rifle of Tommorow

Special Forces have been operating in unconventional ways as they often enter enemy territory through the most unexpected ways. Whether is it from the sandy desert of the lands or the ice cold temperature of the sea waters, when they infiltrate enemy lines, their assault rifle are likely to malfunction as the barrel of the weapon is filled with salt water or sands. Most of the times such malfunctions are unaware by the operative and the consequences of pulling the trigger of a jammed rifle can result in serious injury or even death. When bullets are flying and people are dying, a soldier needs to make sure that his rifle will keep him alive in the heat of battle. Thankfully, with innovation in military technology, Heckler & Koch have developed an assault rifle which will never malfunction regardless of how extreme mother nature's abuse is. Say hello to the H&K 416, the assault rifle of tomorrow.

The H&K 416 is a gas operated carbine which looks similar to the M4A1 and it is available in 4 barrel links that makes even the shortest version deadly accurate. The rifle's internal mechanism has been cleverly redefined by Heckler & Koch to extend the capabilities of a standard assault rifle. It is said to function as good as new regardless of how much environmental abuse it goes through.

The assault rifle's nightmares are sand and water. A small amount of grid, sand, dust, dirt or water is sufficient to jam the regular works of a rifle. In extreme cases, the next time the trigger is pulled, it could result in the destruction of the weapon, serious injury and even the death of the user. No sane soldier would bury his/her rifle in sand or water. However, seeing that today's battlefields not only take place in urban areas but also takes place in sandy deserts or wet coastal beaches, it will be inevitable that the soldier's rifle will accumulate sand or water unintentionally. Fortunately, the 416 has the ability to fire its weapon no matter how long it has been buried in sand or soaked in water. Having a weapon that is reliable, smart and designed to perform under extreme pressure, a difference can be made in the engagement of combat.

Special Forces operatives are deployed through insertion methods like fast roping, repelling and even parachuting. Insertion methods like these are often conducted to serve the rapid action role of the Special Forces. Despite how effective and fast are the insertion methods, the operative is exposed to enemy fire making him/her vulnerable. In response to this vulnerability, a special forces operative needs to fire his/her weapon during the insertion process to defend him/herself. Unfortunately, most assault rifles are incapable of firing from a different angle and position. Unlike, its other predecessors, the H&K 416 is capable of firing rounds of ammunition regardless of the firing position and angle. This is because, the H&K 416 is designed with a system that provides consistent injection patterns which allows the weapon to fire up to 100 rounds while being rotated 360 degrees at the same time. This weapon is greatly ideal for SWAT or any Special Forces seeing that it can be even used upside down while repelling into a building during hostage rescue missions.

The 416's rate of fire is about 150 rounds a minute which is a standard rate for an assault rifle. Unlike any other weapon, the bolt of the 416 still remains cold despite it has been fired repeatedly. This is because the hot gases from the exploding rounds are channeled away from the critical internal components which will prevent the rifle from getting jammed. Since there is no heat transfer to the bolt, there will not be any heat erosion to jam the rifle.

Like any other assault rifle, the 416 has a semi automatic and a full auto firing rate. Apart from that, the opportunity to customize the weapon with accessories like laser designators, special optical sights and even grenade launchers, the 416 is also a flexible weapon.

To sum it up, the 416 is highly durable and flexible weapon. A rifle that will never jam regardless of how abusive the circumstances will assist our heroes greatly in preserving global peace and fighting the war against terror. The 416 will be a commando's new best friend tomorrow.

p/s: With a rifle as cool as this, I would definitely want to have a 416 for my birthday. ( HINT! HINT ! HINT!)
