Movies that I have Watched More than Once

If a movie is watched more than once in a cinema, no doubt that movie is great. Throughout my holidays in Malaysia, I've been constantly visiting the cinemas every week. Within this 2 months of my stay in Malaysia, I am very fortunate as the theaters have been featuring a lot of movies related to my favorite genre. Most of the movies I've watched were great; but, among all that I have watched, there were 4 movies that were viewed more than once as I really like them a lot: They were Invisible Target, Flashpoint, Rush Hour 3 and Ratatouille. The first 3 movies that I have mentioned share one thing in common; they are martial arts cum action movies. On the other hand the last one, Ratatouille is a totally different genre which is free from any violence and disturbing scenes seeing that it is an animation from Disney's Pixar. Invisible Target, Flashpoint, Rush Hour 3 and Ratatouille are movies that have to be watched and it would be a shame if they were missed.

Invisible Target is a Hong Kong movie that tells the story about 3 police officers from different department who are thrown together to take down a gang of seven robbers. The movie is directed by Benny Chan, the same director that brought New Police Story and Rob-B-Hood to the big screens which managed to capture a lot of great ratings. The cast of the movie comprise, Jaycee Chan, Nicholas Tse, Shawn Yue and Jing Wu. What made this movie great apart from its unexpected plot, great acting and it's stylish cinematography was the fact that the cast did their own stunts. Jaycee Chan, Nicholas Tse and Shawn Yue whom hardly share a similar background to the upcoming wushu superstar, Jing Wu managed to perform their own stunts which was simply amazing. Invisble Target is a must watch for action fans out there.

Like Invisble Target, Flashpoint (a.k.a City With No Mercy) is also a Hong Kong movie that revolves around the police force. Directed by Wilson Yip, Flashpoint tells the tale of the hard boiled and hot headed Inspector Ma who vows to bring down a group of Vietnamese gang who are wrecking havoc in Hong Kong. The cast of the movie consist of Donnie Yen, Louis Koo and Collin Chou. Unlike Invisible Target, the time setting of Flashpoint is a year before Hong Kong was returned to China. The props used in the movie which ranged from the 1995 Nokia cellular phone model to the Mazda and Honda cars dated back in the early 90's presented "Hong Kong yesterday" in a well manner. Like always, Donnie Yen did a great job portraying his character as Inspector Ma in a stylish bad ass way. What's best about this movie is the fight scenes; unlike the usual Chinese martial arts movie, Flashpoint's action choreographing (which was directed by Donnie Yen) featured a lot of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) which varied from Kung Fu and Muay Thai to Jujitsu and wrestling. For all the martial arts lover and kung fu wannabes, missing Flashpoint is unforgivable.

Shot in France and America, Rush Hour 3 is the third installment for the Rush Hour series. Just like its predecessors, the latest installment is packed with lots of action and comedy. If you're looking for an action movie that is not so tensed and gory, Rush Hour 3 is what you're looking for. Directed by Brett Ratner, Rush Hour 3 throws Inspector Lee and Detective Carter to Paris with the objective of protecting a French witness who bears knowledge of the Triad's secret leaders after an attempted assassination on Ambassador Ha. The cast of this movie features Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker and Hiroyuki Sanada. As always, Rush Hour 3 never fails to impress the viewers with Jackie Chan's fancy martial arts action and Chris Tucker's load of humor. The fight scenes on the Eiffel tower was not only great but also very thrilling. Rush Hour 3 is a must watch not only for action fans and martial arts lovers but also for those who wants to laugh themselves off silly.

Totally different from the first 3 movies mentioned, Ratatouille is an animation established by Disney's Pixar and it does not feature any blood spilling action or bone breaking martial arts. Although this animation is specially for young audiences, the sub culture of food experts in France together with its meaningful theme attracted a lot of mature audiences as well. Director by Brad Bird and Jan Pinkav, Ratatouille revolves around Remy, a young rat in the French countryside who arrives in Paris only to find his cooking idol dead. Remy's culinary and personal adventures begins when he makes an unusual alliance with a restaurant's new garbage boy. The animation offered high definition and detailed CGI which were very impressive.Besides that, the movement of the characters were so natural and spontaneous. The comedy was top notch as well seeing one will laugh his/herself silly for every 5 minutes in the movie. It wouldn't be exaggerating to say that Ratatouille is one of those rare Disney masterpiece to be made ever since Snow White. If you're skeptical about watching this animation after considering your mature age, well don't be because Ratatouille isn't those typical immature animations that will have your goosebumps appearing and leave you awkward all the while.

To sum it all up, Invisible Target, Flashpoint, Rush Hour 3 and Ratatouille are movies that have to be watched and it would be a shame if they were missed. You might be wondering the amount of free time I have to afford watching the same movies for more than once. Basically, I will watch the first round with my friends and if it happens to be that good, I'll recommend it to my mum and that is when I'll be watching it for the second time with her. If any old friend of mine calls me out for a movie and request for my recommendations, I will suggest them the same movie which I have watched more than once. We'll then watch that same movie together and so it will be my third round. Here's the trailers for the movies that I have watched more than once.

1. Invisible Target
2. Flashpoint
3. Rush Hour 3
4. Ratatouille

Danger Girl: Back In Black

The girls are not only back in black, but they are also back for good.

A visit to my favorite bookstore, Kinokuniya in KLCC and I finally got what I was looking for; my all time favorite comic series, Danger Girl. This time the girls are "back in black". Like the previous Danger Girl series, the story of "Back in Black" is written by Andy Hartnell. On the other hand, the art work was illustrated by Nick Bradshaw and Jim Charalampidis instead of the legendary Scott Campbell. The copy I purchased was the entire collection of the "Back in Black" series. The "Back in Black" series isn't the latest installment of Danger Girl; it is the second latest in the series. Although I couldn't get my hands on the latest copy of Danger Girl, I wasn't really troubled at all as I am planning to collect the back issues as well. In Danger Girl: Back in Black, the girls are assigned to track down a stolen ancient artifact. Meanwhile, Agent Zero and Agent Barracuda are on the hunt for a mysterious object referred to as the "pod" which seems related to the artifact which the girls are assigned to track down. Danger Girl: Back in Black is not only back in a stylish manner but they are also back for good.

What makes this installment great? Well first of all, the plots are not only well arranged but they are also well presented. The plots that provide an alternate focus on the girl's ( Abbey and Sydney) and the guy's (Agent Zero and Agent Barracuda) mission reveal how they are related in the story. The dialogs like usual, are never dull and boring. They are very casual and natural which authenticate the settings of the story.Andy Hartnell did a great job adding a great amount of humor to make this R-rated comic less stressful and more enjoyable. As for the action, the readers will be kept at the edge of their seats with all the brawling, shootings and car chasing. The infiltration action scenes by Agent Zero which was simply stylish apart from gory also fueled the action in the story. Lastly, "Back in Black" shocks the readers with its unexpected ending which will prompt the readers to impatiently find on what will be next in the story. "Back in Black" is simply amazing.

However unlike the earlier Danger Girl series, "Back In Black" had several flaws. First of all, an immediate disappointment struck me as I started the first page; the art of "Back in Black" wasn't what I expected. What thought to be an art similar to Scott Campbell's one turned out to be the one similar to Totally Spies'; Abbey Chase and Sydney Savage's beauty have been smeared in dirt. They do not look as sexy and beautiful like before, in fact they looked so deformed. I guess this has been the biggest disappointment for the graphic novel. The drawings are not as detailed as Scott Campbell's one. The evil goons' costumes looked like something out of Ultraman's anti monster force and the gun detail look similar to the one you can find in Toys R' Us. The story is also shorter than expected unlike, the Danger Girl Ultimate Collection. To be more specific, "Back in Black" was only a quarter of the Ultimate Collection. Although there are several flaws in "Back in Black", the quality of this story is still worth the "a thumb up" rating.

Danger Girl: Back in Black is not only back in a stylish manner but they are also back for good. Like me, the other fans of Danger Girl are now impatient for the sequel to appear on their local bookstore's shelves. In the meantime, I'll be collecting the back issues of the series and at the same time, I'll be praying that Scott Campbell will be the artist for the rest of the series.

The cover for issue number 3. Nice!

The front cover of the "Back in Black" collection by the legendary Scott Campbell. Abbey Chase and Sydney Savage in this picture are so damn hot. It's such a shame Mr. Campbell was replaced in this story and because of that, poor Abbey and Sydney won't be looking pretty for now. Tsk...tsk...

Oh, My Danger Girls

Compared to Danger Girl, Charlie's Angel is nothing. This is one heck of a comic that is loaded with not only bona fide hot chicks but also turbocharged action, nail biting suspense, array of villains and even a few laughs. Its guaranteed to kick ass!

As usual, there's nothing much to do at home. Most of the time are spent on blogging, chatting and surfing online. Although I'm currently reading my recently purchase Illustrated Manual of Sniping Skills, I find it very difficult to read the same old book for the entire day. In the afternoon, I paid a visit to my study room for some random book browsing. As I opened the glass doors of the book shelves, I was greeted by some old and also new untouched books. There were different genre ranging from novels to self improvement books. Of course, there were a dozen of old graphic novels like the Ultimate Spiderman, The Punisher and Star Wars: Boba Fett to browse through. After all, this home is inhabited mostly by boys so it would be awkward not to have comics and graphic novels at home. I was flipping through the pages of the graphic novels slowly trying relive the good old days with the super heroes. As I finished one title, I moved on to a new one scheming through quickly. Comics after comics were finished scheming through and placed back in it's original position on the shelf, I continued looking for other titles until I came across one thick graphic novel book that gave me lots of memories and also excitement. It was the ultimate and complete collection of Danger Girl by Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell. The sight of the hot and sexy looking heroines equipped with guns on the front cover of the graphic novel not only made me blush but also turned me on. I missed Danger Girl so much and I was so damn glad that I came across this book again.

So what exactly is Danger Girl and why am I so "ga-ga" over it? Well apart from its busty, scantily-clad heroines which are offered in the graphic novel, Danger Girl also feature an interesting story line which tells the tale of a group of highly trained female espionage operatives, codenamed Danger Girl whom must prevent a surviving Nazi sect called the Hammer (or also known as "The Fourth Reich) from continuing Hitler's Nazi fascism across the globe which would definitely result in world domination. The plot of the graphic novel is not only well arranged which begins from the introduction of the main heroine and ends with the apparent destruction of Hammer, but it also offers some surprising and twisted moments that will leave the readers gasping in shock. Despite Danger Girl is an adrenaline rushed action story, certain plots in the graphic novel can be very humorous at times. The dialogs in the graphic novel which are not only casual, but also crude at times add to the authenticity and humor of the story. Scott Campbell did a great work on the art of the graphic novel which often leaves readers browsing through every pages not only to read but to also admire the fine drawing. The cover gallery located at the end of the novel which features additional art of the sexy heroines never fail to pamper those who appreciate the drawing very much. And if that is not enough, there's always the sketch book section at the very end of the novel to show the readers how the development of characters are made in a step by step process. Many have appreciate Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell's work of Danger Girl as it can be illustrated through the positive comments from movie producers, celebrities and professional cartoonists located at the back of the book. I guess I'm not the only one who's crazy about Danger Girl.

Danger Girl
offers a variety of unique characters. The graphic novel focuses on three main girls most of the time as they are the heroines of the story. First up is Abbey Chase, the golden hair American heroine who's not only cute but also a champion marksman, a virtuoso of languages and a scholar of world history. Abbey Chase is a team player and a natural leader despite spending her childhood as a loner. Up next is Sydney Savage; as her first name says it all, she's from Sydney, Australia and she is a striking, sassy and vivacious Danger Girl. She is a qualified expert in the Mk 23 pistol, all NATO/ Warsaw Pact medium machine guns and also a bull whip. Like Detective Vic Mackey from The Shield, Sydney Savage is often reprimanded for her wild and unconventional procedures. Unlike other Danger Girls, Sydney often takes advantage of her great looks to distract and defeat her male nemesis. Last but not least, there is Natalia Kassle; this sultry Russian is one of my favorite Danger Girl operative as she's not only attractively tall and physically beautiful but her ice blue eyes are...just so seductive. Unlike Abbey and Sydney, Natalia prefers using edged weapons and hand to hand combat. She's a personal combat instructor and she once worked for the KGB as an intelligence agent. Her cold personality just like her motherland's weather is a total turn on for me. Dangerl Girl is also filled with unique villains like the bizzare Ubermensch, Major Maxim, the stealthy and deadly ninja, Assassin X, the wreckless Kid Dynamo and many more. The graphic novel which offers a lot of unique characters contributes to the success of Danger Girl.

I happened to know the Danger Girl series when I was in my first year of secondary school. So you can imagine how young I was when I got myself exposed to all the graphic sexuality. Initially, I saw a copy of the Danger Girl for the Play Station console sitting on the display cabinet in a video game shop. I couldn't be bothered less about it at first, seeing that I thought it was another Charlie's Angel crap. However, the moment I saw the cover of the game that had Natalia Kassle topless wielding a combat blade, I felt in love with the series. Ever since then, I've been a big fan of Danger Girl although I never read the comics before. I even went from one end of the web to another end looking for Danger Girl wallpapers and merchandise. When I was in the fourth year of my secondary school, I was very fortunate to purchase the entire collection. What surprised me was, my mum was the one who bought me that book. Thank God she wasn't really bothered about the scantily dressed and busty looking female characters in the book. Ever since I got that book, I reread it a million times and eventually, I fell in love with the characters . I would then have them as my imaginary friends and every time, before I go to bed, I'll read the book and place it next to me on my bed. I guess I'm really a big fan of Danger Girl.

I missed Danger Girl so much and I was so damn glad that I came across this book again. This is one book that I should treasure as it presented me a lot of fond memories. While I'm still here in Malaysia, I ought to collect the Danger Girl action figures or anything related to Danger Girl. There are a couple Danger Girl mini series yet to be collected. I'm dying to get my hands on the Batman/Danger Girl which tells the story of an unlikely alliance between the girls and the dark knight as they go on assignment in Gotham City. How cool can that be?

The front cover of the Danger Girl ultimate collection.

Abbey Chase. The main heroine in the story. This vixen's favorite weapon is the Desert Eagle.

Abbey Chase in action with her Desert Eagle. Ah, what a turn on

The wild sassy Sydney Savage. She's not only good with firearms but also with whips. That's one girl I wouldn't mind getting whipped by.

My favorite character among the 3 Danger Girls, Natalia Kassle. This sultry Russian is attractively tall and her ice blue eyes are so seductive. Her cold attitude similar to the her motherland's weather is such a turn on.

I could stare at this picture all day long.

A retro touch on the girls. Sexy!

A Book that is Worth Robbing For

Another visit to 1 Utama's MPH today and I came across something interesting at the military section. I didn't even know MPH had a military archive like Kinokuniya, but anyway it's good for me that they have . I happened to spot a fascinating book called Illustrated Manual of Sniper Skills written by Mark Spicer. I was hyped and excited about the cover of the book, it became more exciting for me when I turned the book around to get a glance at the blurb. The book's blurb states that the Illustrated Manual of Sniper Skills is an essential manual for military and police snipers. Oh my Lord, just what I wanted to add in my military knowledge. The blurb then continued stating that this book includes details on training, camouflage and concealment, stalking and shooting techniques. It also describes anti-personnel and anti-material shot placements not to mention several highlights on counter-sniper techniques. My day couldn't be better when I discovered this book.

But when I checked out the price , to my horror I know it was way beyond my spending budget for a book. It was RM83.25; that's a rather expensive price to learn how to shoot people from a far---I mean, to learn how snipers work at a detail level. Somehow, my pocket felt so empty despite there's a wallet in it every time I look at the price. I then wondered how am I going to leave MPH with this valuable yet expensive information I have in my hand. Paying for it would be definitely out of the question, it's RM83.25 for God's sake, therefore stealing it would be the plan.

I then conducted a quick recon around the bookstore to asses MPH's security level. To my unfortunate luck, security was tight; the complex was rigged with security cameras, anti-theft sensors and security agents.Basically, this place was like Fort Knox. If only I had my EMP and my smoke grenades along with me, no doubt I'll make a stylish get away. I began to check the windows around the bookstore to see whether they were lock. If they weren't, I thought about making a stealthy escape through the windows. Unfortunately again, they were all locked. Not to mention, MPH is located at the top floor of 1 Utama; even if I manage to escape through the windows, the height of the building will present another challenge for me. Falling down won't kill me and that's the shitty part. It'll just turn me into a permanent vegetable. The odds were against me but I knew I had to get this book at the end of the day. As I became desperate, I thought about resorting to my final alternative: conduct a stick up on MPH.

How was I going to do that? I had no weapons with me and even if I did manage to rob the entire book store, those damn security cameras would have taken a picture of my face. The second the bulb on my head flash, a small video of ideas then played in my head. I saw myself removing my t-shirt and then having it tied around my face like a ninja's mask. Some of the nearby customers felt awkward as they witnessed what I did. However, their sense of awkward then transformed into a feeling of fear as they saw me send the metallic trash cylinder through one of the bookstore's windows. Pieces of glasses were scattered on the floor and everyone was trying to flee for their life. I picked up the biggest piece of the shattered glasses and went around the bookstore swinging the glass violently while informing everyone that this is a stick up. The security cameras were focused on me but I couldn't care as I had my face masked. Later on, two security agents charged at me with their wooden baton and I knew it was going to be trouble if they gang up on me. Consequently, I took one of the customer as my human shield and I threatened the cops-for-rent that I would stuck this piece of glass up my hostage's ass if they come any closer. My human shield who was shrieking and crying in fear then persuaded the security agents to comply with my demands. As they dropped their baton and hit the ground with their hands on their head, I knew I had the situation under control. However all of a sudden, the cashier at the counter hit a security button which had the entire book store sealed. The steel shutters of the bookstore sealed the entrance on both floors of MPH. Damn it, if only my hands weren't full for that moment, I would have skin that damn cashier with my shattered glass. As I threw my human shield to the ground, I warned everyone who was trapped in the book store not to move a muscle. After collecting the batons from those cops-for-rent, I headed for the cashier getting eager to lay the smack down on that idiot who foiled my getaway. On my way to the counter, I stuck my big piece of shatter glass into the baton. The terrified cashier who saw me customized the baton then begin to cried for her life. Those tears ain't gonna save her now, she shouldn't have push the goddamn button. I grabbed the cashier by her tudung and as I was about to crash the club into that pretty face of hers, I heard the police sirens blaring outside from the windows. Damn it, the cops were here. I decided to spare the cashier's life as I wanted to asses the size of the "calvary" which were send. I walked to the windows of the bookstore before I looked down and to my horror, I saw a platoon of cops. There were a dozens of police cars outside and there were lots of police men aiming their guns up at the windows of the book store. Oh my God! What have I got myself into?

A second later, a couple of gas canister were launched into the bookstore before forcing everyone to choke and gasp for air. A rappelling SWAT team then crashed into the building and one of them struck me hard with their boots on the way in. I flew and crashed into a shelves of book groaning in pain. The intruding SWAT team warned everyone to stay down as they were securing the bookstore through the smoky environment. My strong urge to avoid ending up in jail forced me to fought back; I reached for my baton before picking myself up. As I charged at the "big guns" with a war cry, I noticed several laser dots appeared on my chest. The SWAT team opened fire and the next thing I knew, I was lying still on the ground in pain before I gave into death. Wait a minute, did I just died trying to rob a bookstore just for a book? Geez, what a nerd am I! The minute I saw myself dead, my video of ideas which was playing in my head rewinded itself to the beginning of the part where I was still holding the book I wanted badly. I then told myself to accept the fact that I won't be able to afford this book.

Before I place the book back into the shelf, I saw my mum entering the bookstore. As she approached me, she saw me holding the book I was dying for. She then asked me what was I reading and immediately, I passed her the book. After browsing the book carefully, my mum then asked me whether I wanted the book or not. Of course I said yes and the next thing I knew, she took the book and lined up at the cashier getting ready to pay. I felt so stupid thinking about stealing and even robbing the place just to get that expensive book. I could have save my strength by asking my mum whether she can buy me the book instead of coming up with plans to rob MPH. As we left MPH, I knew I got what I wanted so badly without risking my life getting shot by the cops.

My day couldn't be better when I discovered this book. I immediately unwrapped the book and started reading while walking back to the car park at 1 Utama. On my way back, I passed by a video game store which had a Play Station 3 on display. I paused myself for a while looking at the third generation console in amaze. The price card next to the machine which stated RM2400 told me that it was obvious I couldn't afford Sony's state of the art console. Consequently, I realize that obtaining the Play Station 3 without paying was the only alternative. And so my video of ideas played in my head...again.

Missed My Chance to Enter the Circle of The Best

Put yourself in this scenario: You're a hardworking corporate worker and your dedication to your company is totally unquestionable. Your contribution is the reason why that company is listed in the fortune 500, however it is often unnoticed. Then one day, somehow someone recommends to the "big boys" that you should be CEO instead of Project Manager of this corporation. An interview is set and your opportunity to grab the CEO's chair is guaranteed as long as you attend this interview. The only thing is that no one told you about that interview, heck even no one informed you're being promoted. Eventually, you missed the interview and your $25,000 monthly salary together with your own executive suite crumble in pieces. The minute you found out... You know how it feels right? Well, that exactly happened to me in my Muay Thai class. I missed out on the golden opportunity to join the "big boys".

A couple of minutes before my Muay Thai class started, I was torturing the tall punching bag with my shin kicks, front kicks, back kicks and knee attack. I noticed some of the other students watched me beat the crap out of the punching bag and I thought they were trying to learn something from me. As delighted I am since I'm being noticed, yet I wasn't really bothered with the attention from the students because I was busy trying to perfect my kicks and my knee attacks. I continued kicking the bag until Kru came in; the moment he saw me, he came charging at me. Oh no, what did I do to him? He was approaching me with fury and I had a split second to decide whether I should throw my solid shin kicks at him or fall at his mercy. Oh my God! How can I even thought about kicking my Kru? After all he taught me, it would be very ungrateful and rebellious to do that. Consequently, I decided to fall at his mercy.

As he was closed enough, he threw his palms on my shoulder and screamed, "Shenji! What were you thinking?". For that moment, I felt petrified; it was like staring at the eyes of Satan who's ready to keep you forever in Hell. I then wondered, what did I do to trigger such wrath from my Kru? Did I behave unmannerly towards his 12 years old daughter without noticing it? Ewww no way! What exactly did I do? Think dammit, think! Kru then continued, "Where were you when I tried to call you?" . "Err...somewhere in Malaysia", I answered in a terrified manner almost wetting myself. Kru then gave me this ridiculous stare in response to my pathetic reply. "Anyway, you just missed the certification course, last week." he continued. I looked back at him in total confusion, "Cremation?" I asked, "Err...who died Kru?". "Certification! Not cremation, you idiot! The process that promotes you to a higher phase in my class" Kru replied in a breathless manner. "Oh that! Of course...Wait a minute? Did you just said that I missed it?" I screamed in panic while grabbing Kru by the collar. "Did you just said that I missed the opportunity to enter the highest phase of Muay Thai? " I continued. This time the table turned around and Kru himself was the terrified party now.

Nodding his head, Kru answered, "Yeah, you did. You didn't showed up at all for class last week so we tried contacting but there was no response. So it was impossible to informed you that you were chosen for the certification. I'm sorry, Shenji." I then looked down in disbelief and I started to feel sad. My sorrow the turned into anger for myself, specifically for my stupidity. How can I skip Muay Thai for a week and miss something important like the certification. The reason I skipped Muay Thai for a week was because my old friends from college asked me out for movies and dinner at different days of that week. I don't blame my friends for that, I just blame my unfortunate luck. "Hey buddy, don't feel bad." comforted one of the other students who was in the similar phase as mine. "At least you were selected to join the ranks of the best. You should be proud of that" he continued. Another one then approached me, "Yeah. Besides we need someone as good as you to represent the Phase 2 students to spar against those Phase 3 students". After several words of comfort from my classmates, I felt better and I realized that there's always next time. As the instructor informed that lessons have begin, all of us got ready to begin our class for the day.

I missed out on the golden opportunity to join the "big boys". Conversely, I felt good knowing that I was one of the handful who was given the opportunity to join. Anyway, with me still in my current phase, I've got lots of time to improve myself and maybe show those Phase 3 guys that I got what it takes to out do them.

I Dated My Friend's Girlfriend

After reading the title of this post, I'm sure you're all speechless right? Well I wouldn't be surprise if you guys were. It somehow reminded you all of a typical episode from the Desperate Housewives series which involves some sick and twisted plot about affairs right? Okay, before you guys head for the nearest gun store to lock and load yourself with a double barrel shotgun (one barrel for my right and the other barrel for my left or both barrel at a time....Oh dammit! I just gave you an idea on how to bring me the pain) and come charging into my place to punish my unexpected behavior, hear me out. Although I dated my friend's girlfriend, I did it right in front of him instead of behind his back. Right now, you all might be thinking how bold am I to do this to my friend and I'm pretty sure you've already got yourselves a shot gun in one hand and your car keys in another, getting ready to drive to my place. But before you guys do anything hasty that will definitely result in my brutal fatality, do listen further. Despite I did that "apparent" despicable act, I did it because my friend wanted me to. Yes folks, you guys should be pointing that double barrel of yours to my friend instead of me. My friend wanted me to date his girlfriend for his own interest. As weird as it may sound, yet I enjoyed myself myself dating my friend's girlfriend.

My friend was constantly invited by this old friend of his (which happened to be a girl) from his former secondary school to go out with her. This friend of mine has a girlfriend already (who I also know), so by right, it wasn't really nice of him to be going out with another girl. Some how my friend allowed to go out with this girl who invited him out but on one condition: she gets to date me at the same time and at the same place of my friend's date. The fact that his girlfriend wanted to date me left me in a position of awkwardness. Nevertheless, I was also happy knowing that I was attractive enough to be asked out on a date. Besides how often a cute girl ask me out?As my friend agreed to his girlfriend's condition, he was allowed to date his old friend. At first, I was reluctant to do that but after considering our friendship back in college, I knew that declining his request to play along would make me ungrateful. Therefore, I agreed to their plan and decided to play along. A plan was then devised among the 3 of us for the upcoming date. We decided that we would have the date at 1 Utama on a Sunday (August 20, 2007) afternoon.

On that day itself, the 3 of us met up at the TGV theater. My friend told us that we ought to add a movie in our itinerary for that day. Seeing that it was a date, I thought we would all end up watching a dreadful love story instead of a high adrenaline action film that has lots of shooting and fighting (well...when I go out with a girl for a movie, we would watch those kind of no hold barred action movies). The majority of us wanted to watch Ratatouille that day and I guess it wasn't a bad idea. Although it ain't Flashpoint but at least it wasn't Summer Of Love or Love is Cinta or whatever the crap was. After buying the tickets, the 3 of us went strolling around 1 Utama for some window shopping. From the clothing boutiques on the top floor to the Tutti Fruity exhibition and Pets Wonderland on the ground floor, we went around window shopping. In the middle of our window shopping, my friend received a call from his old friend telling him that she is waiting for him at Jaya Jusco. That moment, he split up from us as he decided to have some privacy with his "other" girlfriend but before my friend went his separate ways, he gave his "current" girlfriend a kiss as a token of his loyalty to her which I thought it was sweet of him but also very gay the second he tried to do the same thing on me. After he went off, I knew it was the beginning of my date with my buddy's girlfriend.

We kicked off our date with lunch at some Chinese restaurant. Lunch that day allowed us to catch up more on each other. One thing about my friend's girlfriend was I knew her before I knew my friend. Both of us used to train together in the same martial arts class a couple of years ago. She's 2 years younger than me but her tender age is masqueraded by her sense of maturity in terms of the topics we converse on that day. Topics ranging from National Service program to individual psychology profiles and even the aspects of different martial arts, we learned a lot from one another. Of course we included topics regarding our current social life and some jokes to make our lunch cheerful instead of dull all the way. Couple of minutes before our movie started, we ended our lunch by paying the bill.

We had troubles getting into the cinema theater at first. It wasn't because we were underage for Ratatouille but it was because my friend was having the tickets. Fortunately, we managed to get him to pass us the ticket right at the entrance checkpoint. After successfully getting into the hallways of the cinema, my friend then ushered us to our seats and guess where we ( me and my date) sat? Right next to my friend and his date. His date doesn't know that we're her date's friends as this whole plan was some undercover dating. Seeing that I was sitting next to her (my friend's date), I stretched my eyes to take a rough glance at her to see whether my friend had good taste or not. I couldn't really obtain an accurate profile about her but I can tell that she's a girl (Duh! But who knows? My friend can be damn gay) and she's Indian (maybe it was the darkness in the room that made everyone look like an Indian...even my fair friend looked like one). I discontinue trying to be nosy as I couldn't really be bothered much about my friend's date since I had mine to care about. As the movie started, I sat back, relaxed and tried to enjoy the movie. Ratatouille was great, but watching it with my date was better. Sharing those laughters and occasional short comments in the middle of the movie couldn't be better. At the end of the movie, me and my date left the cinema's hall earlier than my friend. Before I departed from my date of the day, we thank each other for that great day.

As weird as it may sound, yet I enjoyed myself dating my friend's girlfriend. My date that day was just wonderful. As for my friend's one, I wouldn't really know as I wasn't him but I'm sure he enjoyed himself like me. Come to think of it, I've gotta say my friend is lucky to have my date as his girlfriend. She's not only cute but she's also friendly, approachable, interesting and also very open minded. I even wonder whether my friend lost his sanity the moment he thought about dating another girl. But how can I criticize him when I actually enjoyed myself with his girlfriend that day? Anyway, I hope for his sake that he will take good care and appreciate his current girlfriend.

A Farewell Dinner for My Comrades

The elite members of the W.I. 106th Regiment (well not all of them though...). One bloody great reunion. It's such a waste we're not reuniting for Mr. Moaz's special operations.

Jacqui, my comrade who served with me in the regiment a year ago decided to held a farewell dinner for another comrades of ours. Initially the dinner was held for James since he was leaving for Vancouver, Canada soon but when Jacqui received additional intel stating that Faye would be serving in Canada too just a few days slightly later than James, Jacqui decided to organize a farewell dinner dedicated to both Faye and James. The farewell dinner was held two days ago in Piccolo Mondo located in Mid Valley Megamall. Jacqui did a great job as she managed to get many people to attend the dinner who mostly consisted of those who served in the W.I. 106th Regiment. Although it was officially declared a farewell dinner for both James and Faye, the fact that most of the guys from the regiment who were here made this gathering looked not only like a farewell dinner but also a reunion party for the regiment.

The dinner started at 7:30pm; however, I reached Mid Valley slightly later due to the massive jam that took place around that area in the evening. As I was dashing to the Italian restaurant hoping that I will not delay the regiment any further, a slight sense of nervousness struck me as I knew I was about to reunite with my good comrades. The moment I entered the restaurant that nervousness than turned into shyness for some mysterious reason, forcing me to immediately find an empty seat. As I spotted one next to Soo Tian, I immediately go for that chair after greeting him. Just opposite of me was an unfamiliar face initially, but when I took a better look of her I knew I saw her before in Taylors College once. Her name was Christine but I clearly knew she wasn't from the regiment. I guess most probably she was James' girlfriend seeing that she was next to James talking happily with him. As I saw James, I began to smile and greeted him before staring a casual conversation with him asking how is he and whether is he ready to leave for Canada. Soo Tian with curiosity and his friendliness then asked me how was I doing in Canada and the same old story about me struggling for the first semester but kicking ass in the Summer semester came out from my mouth as I replied. I then noticed Peter and his girlfriend Lianne who was sitting in the similar row. I wished them both hi before changing place just to get closer to them. Peter served in the regiment like the other and as for Lianne on the other hand, she didn't. Despite that, I knew Lianne from ninjutsu class as the girl who's often being irritated by Peter. Actually I knew her earlier before Peter, in a ninjutsu intensive class 2 years ago. She's a nice girl since she's very approachable and friendly. Before beginning my casual conversation with the love birds, the other Christine ( the oldest among all of us yet her looks masquerade her actual age forcing people to think she's the youngest) handed me Faye's farewell card asking me to write something nice.

After scribbling something sweet on the card which hopefully will make her say "Awww...that's so sweet, Shenji", I began my casual conversation with both Peter and Lianne. Knowing that they're doing great in their Taylors Tourism School, I felt proud and happy for them. The other Christine ( the one who handed me Faye's card) began asking me how was I and everything, and just like what I told Soo Tian, I told Christine the similar story about me struggling in the first semester but kicking ass in the next one. Christine then asked me about my friends in Canada and the moment I told her that I had no time for friends over there since I was occupied with work most of the time, Christine couldn't help but to feel surprised. I couldn't really blame her though; a guy like me having loads of friends over here in Malaysia but almost none over there would look awkward. A few minutes later, our other star for the night arrived, it was Faye with her boyfriend. After trading "hi"s with her, the dinner began with everyone ordering their food.

My comrades had a massive appetite that night. They were ordering plates of pasta and wooden dishes of pizza filling themselves up like as if it was their final dinner. As for me I just had a plate of Pasta Arrabiata. In the middle of my dinner, Faye and her boyfriend were attracted to the ink work on my left shoulder. They complimented my tattoo and asked several questions about the process of doing the tattoo. After their Q&A session, Faye said that I buffed up and I look good. I blushed that moment and I felt like as if I was on ecstasy hearing rows of compliments from a girl as it is very very rare that anyone praise me, especially a girl. So rare like the golden ticket in Willy Wonka's chocolate bar. Faye then asked me whether have I been working out but I just told her that I put on a bit of weight instead of telling her the truth as I was trying to be humble. That night, my self esteem rose and I felt so much better.

After finishing our dinner, we snapped some photos. Some of us brought our digital camera so we were busy asking each other around to help us snap a picture. Few minutes before we left, we asked one of the waiter to help us take a group photo. I really felt bad for the waiter as he had his work interrupted trying to please his customers by taking their group photo. But when I remembered that we were gonna pay for the service tax when the bill arrive, I told myself what the hell, he should be taking our photos with pleasure. Consequently, I told others to give their cameras to the waiter who was assigned to take our group photos. We paid for the bill after our group photo shooting before we ended the dinner. We wished all the best to our comrades,Faye and James hoping that they will have a pleasant tour of duty in Canada.

Although it was officially declared a farewell dinner for both James and Faye, the fact that most of the guys from the regiment were here made this gathering looked not only like a farewell dinner but also a reunion party for the regiment. It reminded me of the one Jacqui held for me a year ago just a couple of weeks before I left for Canada. Like me, James and Faye's time came and it was really my pleasure and honor to attend their farewell dinner. After all, I owe the regiment greatly for their support and their friendship which greatly effected my life when we were all still serving together. I wouldn't miss any of their gathering for the world.

The hungry regiment getting ready for dinner to be served.

Faye, Christine ( James' girlfriend I think...Loved her shirt with the words "Sun your Buns") and James.

The girls of the regiment (not all of them though). The guys were expected to have an all guy photo shoot, but we think it's too gay.

Me (on top), Lianne (from the left) and Peter.

(From left to right) Soo Tian, me and Jacqui

Edgar & Ellen-Tourist Trap

While waiting for my friend yesterday at 1 Utama, I thought about visiting the MPH bookstore. There were a lot of books to browse through however, if you were to compare to Kinokuniya Bookstore in KLCC, MPH would seem like a small magazine stand only. Most of the books there were wrapped in plastic wrappers which prohibited me from viewing the contents, so I just had to imagine what were the contents of the books by looking at the cover. I continued browsing for more books until the kid's section. It would be unusual for individuals around my age to browse for books from that section but on the other hand, I sometimes prefer reading stories written for kids and teenagers compared to the novels for adults. This is because it is easier to read and it is difficult to lose track in the stories compared to those novels or books written for the adult readers. I was browsing in the horror compartment of the kid's section as I thought about getting a slight spook when all of a sudden I came across a series of books by the title of Edgar & Ellen by Charles Ogden . Although it was under the horror section, the Gothic comical image of the cover made me thought that this book was cute instead of scary. Furthermore, the blurb of the book that had a mischievous plot and a dark sense of humor triggered my curiosity and interest for the book. Knowing that my friend would be late again, I took the opportunity to read the unwrapped copy of Edgar & Ellen while waiting for her. I was entertained by the humorous story which persuaded me to read further. I was halfway through the book until my friend came ( so you can imagine how late she is) and I thought it would be a waste not to purchase the book. Conversely, I ended up getting a copy of Edgar & Ellen.

Edgar & Ellen are are twins who leave on a 13 story house located at the southern part of Nod's Limbs ( a name of a town). They are woeful siblings whom prefer to stay in the dark and enjoy what the usual people dread of similar to Pugsley and Wednesday from the Adam's family. Unlike these 2 infamous characters from the Adam's Family, Edgar and Ellen were abandoned by their parents long time ago who hoaxed the twins into believing that they (the parents) are going on a long holiday trip. The twins have an animal that looks like a fur ball with a huge yellow eye in the center as a pet. They called this animal of theirs, Pet. Both Edgar & Ellen love playing pranks that usually come to the cost of the people of Nod's Limbs. Like most stories, the twins share a similar arch nemesis-- the Knightleigh family. The head of the Knightleigh family is the mayor of Nod's Limb, little is known about his first name therefore, he is only refer to the name Mayor Knightleigh in the story. Mayor Knightleigh has a daughter by the name of Stephanie. She is Ellen's mortal enemy and she is the popular kid in town who thinks she controls the world with her "sweetness" but is actually a snob who looks down on Ellen. Mayor Knightleigh has a wife called Judith and a younger son named Miles who respects the twins way unlike Stephanie. He also has this klutzy humorous intern named Bob who's very loyal. The Edgar & Ellen series are known to have a variety of characters that has his/her own distinct personality which make the series not only interesting but also unique.

In this second installment for the series, the twins who were happily salvaging for unused items in the nearby junkyard realized they weren't alone when the mayor and her daughter stopped by. While hiding behind a tower of worn out tires, Edgar and Ellen eavesdrop on the mayor and Stephanie's conversation. To the twins horror, the mayor plans to demolish the junkyard for his new hotel project. Seeing that the junkyard has been the twins' favorite playground and it is the home of their beloved carnivorous plant, Berenice, Edgar and Ellen must save the junkyard with whatever clever pranks they have or risk losing the junkyard to a grand looking hotel which they so disgust.

This is a book that you should consider buying if you thought about doing some easy reading or tickling your funny bones. If you haven't read the first book, don't worry, you won't get lost in any confusion or misunderstandings. Although there is several books in the Edgar and Ellen series that seem to go in order, they don't have to be read in order unlike the Harry Porter series. So if you happen to drop by MPH or any bookstore, keep in mind to look out for this book.

Too Much Sugar

I've seen the grotesque effects of diabetes through those pictures posted on the walls of the school hall when there was a yearly health preservation campaign in my primary school during my tender age. Although it was just pictures on printed paper, the colors that illustrated realism was suffice to destroy my appetite for the next few days. I usually try to avoid exhibitions like these during my primary school days but with my class teacher obligating our visits to this kind of exhibition, I had to pray that I will forget those disgusting images immediately after the visit. Realizing the pain and suffering a critical diabetic patient has to go through, I try to cut down on my sugar if it is possible. However, with my diet patterns I recently developed, I fear that I might be another victim of a nightmarish disease as a result of high sugar consumption.

Ever since I returned from Canada, I've been constantly dining at McDonalds. Many will find it bizarre as my daily consumption of western food in Canada should have made me sick of McDonalds. Well I guess I prove them wrong. For some unknown reason, I have been very faithful to this fast food franchise ever since I was a little boy. Maybe it's because of those fun and joyful McDonalds advertisements which I have been exposed to when I was a toddler that caused my unquestionable loyalty. My dedication towards McDonalds was not only restricted to choosing McDonalds whenever my parents or my friends ask me where I would like to dine, but also my fight to defend the mega fast food company during the time when Mr Moaz held a debate in regard to the Super Size Me documentary he played in World Issues class. Geez, talk about effective marketing strategy. Anyway, I realized that I would pay a visit to McDonalds after my daily Muay Thai class for supper; and when I do, I will order a value meal set that consist of a burger, a fries and a cup of coke. I will definitely wipe out the burger and the fries but I'll consider about finishing the cup of coke. Knowing that it has been scientifically proven that coke contains a lot of sugar, I'll usually leave the cup half empty. On the other hand, when I'm really thirsty after training or when I remember about Peter's speech regarding starvation with the moral teaching of not wasting food, I tend to leave the cup of coke totally empty. If my calculations are not wrong, I have an average of 4 visits to McDonalds per week. This means that I'm having 4 regular size cups of coke every week. I tend to remind myself to cutdown on the sugary poison but it seems I'll only remember after my drink of coke.

A month ago, my mum bought a machine that produces yogurt. Yogurts are my favorite desserts or snack, especially the strawberry flavored ones as the sweet and sour creamy taste never fail to pamper my taste buds. Like my daily visit to McDonalds, my yogurt consumption is on a similar basis. I usually have it after my lunch or when I feel like having a snack in the middle of the night. As we all know, yogurt tastes sweet; so, that means it contains sugar. With my daily consumption on yogurt, it wouldn't be difficult to imagine the amount of sugar I'm taking in a week.

Last 4 or 5 days ago, I went to Pangkor for my Muay Thai camp; it was just a one night, two days camp. For those both days in a row, I hardly had water as part of my meal set. On the morning before I left for Pangkor, I had a McDonald's breakfast value meal (you see... McDonalds again). The value meal contain tea with sugar, so that was my first consumption of sugar for that day. When I arrived in Lumut, we had lunch and guess what was my beverage which accompanied my meal? It was Teh O Ais . So that was the second consumption of sugar that day. After my first training for the day in Pangkor, we went for dinner and I had the same beverage again to accompany my meal. On the following morning again, I had tea for breakfast and again tea for lunch and dinner. To sum it all up, I consumed sugar 6 times in a row during my trip to Pangkor; this is convincing me that I'm going to get diabetes.

Just two days ago, I went out with James to MidValley for a movie, we watched The Simpsons. Before we went into the cinema hall, James told me to get him a cup of Sprite while he pays an emergency visit to the bathroom. Realizing the amount of sugar I had recently, I told myself I won't be getting anything for myself. As it was my turn in the line to order the snacks, I told the cashier that I just wanted a large cup of Sprite for James. Conversely, when I witnessed the operated soft drink machine pouring the ice cold Sprite into the cup, I was greatly seduced and the next thing I knew, I had two large cups ( the super size ones) in my hands: one for James and another one for me. After the movie, James and I decided to have dinner together at Nandos. As you all know, the food in Nandos are extremely spicy and having one cup of ice cold beverage with your spicy meal isn't enough. Initially, I wanted to order mineral water as my beverage to accompany my meal but knowing that water are not refillable unlike ice lemon tea and other soft drink, I had no choice but to go for those sugary beverages or risk losing my tongue. Since the chicken was so spicy, I had to take more than a cup of ice lemon tea to take the heat off. At the end of that day, I plundered into fear knowing that I am one step closer in making the diabetic nightmare a reality after calculating the amount of sugar I had altogether for that day.

With my diet patterns I recently developed, I fear that I might be another victim of a nightmarish disease as a result of high sugar consumption. Nevertheless, immediate counter measures have been taken to prevent me from getting diabetes. I've been drinking lots of water ever since I heard a hearsay regarding high water consumption can reduce the sugar level in our body. Besides that, I've been working out on a regular basis and constantly reminding myself to avoid soft drinks if it is possible. I just hope my sugar level isn't at an alarming rate to qualify myself as a diabetic patient.

Muay Thai Camp in Pangkor

Although the training in the Muay Thai class I constantly attend is restricted behind the walls of the kick boxing studio in Subang, my kru thought about taking our training to an outdoor level for once. Consequently, my Kru decided to have a Muay Thai camp at Pangkor Island where we will be training our Muay Thai techniques on the soft sandy beaches. This camp was a joint training session between the other branches of Jak Othman's Muay Thai;therefore, the participants of the camp weren't only restricted to my usual classmates in Subang but also the students from MMU, UITM and PJ branches. This gave me the opportunity to establish a better network of acquaintances. The camp was held on the 11th of August which was on a Saturday. It was just a 1 night 2 days camp, nevertheless I really enjoyed myself as I made new acquaintances and learned new combat techniques.

The participants of the camp gathered at the Subang studio on an early morning of Saturday. It was 7 in the morning to be exact and seeing that it was so early for me, I arrived at the studio half asleep. My dad who send me to the studio that morning was angry with me as he never wanted me to go for the camp since he has a wrong idea of how dangerous this camp can be with all the sparring and dangerous training. He insisted to see my kru to have a couple of words with him. Fortunately, my kru managed to persuade my father that everything will be alright. As all the participants gathered, my kru assigned the participants to different cars. There were 37 participants altogether and 8 out of the total participants brought their own car. After assigning the participants to the cars, we all hopped in and the convoy consisting of 8 cars started leaving Subang for Pangkor.

In order to reach Pangor, the convoy had to take a ferry from Lumut, Perak. The journey from Subang to Lumut was approximately 3 hours. On the way to Lumut, I managed to make new acquaintance with the passangers in the similar car as I am. The driver of the car I was riding in was Billy. He's an instructor in the PJ branch. Billy was not only friendly but also very hospitable as he always made sure we were all right throughout our trip. Then there was Jess; she's Billy's friend who trains at the PJ branch. Like Billy, she's also very hospitable. Both Billy and Jess are working adults unlike most of the students. Sitting behind with me were Fazli and Hazfiq. Both of them train at the Subang studio like me but on a different class schedule. Fazli is also a working adult like Billy and Jess. He is an engineer and he is in his mid 2o's. Fazli is funny and approachable. As for Hazfiq, he is the youngest among all of us. He is in his second year of secondary school and this dude is slightly immature. He talks a lot which can be slightly annoying but nevertheless, without him, the camp wouldn't be fun. We traded stories and jokes with one another on the way to Lumut which made the long journey an enjoyable one. Several hours later, the convoy reached Lumut.

Upon reaching Lumut, the convoy parked the cars at a parking building before having lunch together. We had lunch in a small restaurant that served Malay food. Unlike the usual restaurants where the waiter or waitresses take your order at your table, getting the food was on a self service buffet basis. There were a variety of food to mix and match on the plate; however, I didn't ate a lot as I had no appetite that afternoon. I just grabbed a plate of rice with some curry gravy and a piece of grilled fish. Lunch was okay and the price was reasonable. As all of us finish filling our stomach, we headed for the jetty.

The jetty in Lumut was small. That day was very crowded and getting ourselves to the ferry was slightly challenging as we had to shove and push our way through the overwhelming crowd. We even had to wait for a few minutes for the ferry's arrival. That Saturday evening was scorching hot, so all of us were waiting impatiently for the ferry's arrival. The moment the ferry arrived, we were all grateful and we immediately boarded the boat to escape the scorching heat.
Despite the ferry was equipped with air conditioner, most of us could not enjoy the cool soothing comfort as we were forced to sit outside because the indoor areas of the ferry were fully occupied. We grumbled about our unfortunate luck and sat outside under the scorching sun once again. Conversely, the strong wind that blew when the ferry was moving at a fast speed managed to cool us down; our patience finally paid off I guess. The trip to Pangkor island was approximately 35 minutes. On our way to the island, we passed by the Royal Malaysian Navy's post. There were several big destroyers parked at the docks and most of us had our jaws dropped in amaze looking at them. After a 35 minutes ride, we finally reached Pangkor Island.

From the Pangkor jetty, we were greeted by countless van and taxi drivers who constantly persuaded us to use their services. Kru then assigned us to different vans which took us to our motel. The motel we stayed in was small and it wasn't as luxurious as we thought it would be. On the other hand, it was enough for us to stay the night as it was equipped with basic facilities. I shared a room with Billy, Fazli and another Malay guy called Cikgu. Most of us don't really know what is his real name and the reason we called him Cikgu was because of his occupation as an English teacher in a primary school. Like others, he is friendly and approachable. Our room was small; it had only 2 queen size bed, a cupboard, a TV and a small bathroom. Still, it was good enough for the 4 of us. We all took a shower and a short nap before regrouping at the lobby. As all of us regrouped at the lobby, kru brought us to the beach nearby for some fun water activities.

Some of us swam in the waters of the beach while some were playing Frisbee. Initially, I was reluctant to swim in the waters as I only had my Muay Thai pants on. However, when I was persuaded by the water proof material of my pants, I decided to take a dip into the sea water. Swimming in the sea water was way different from swimming in a pool since the waves are constantly pushing me around and the waters are so murky and salty. You might never know what's ahead of you under the murky sea water when there could be sharks or God-knows-what man eating alien creatures down there. Kru then decided to held a sprinting competition on the beach. Knowing that I am not a good runner and running on the beach is difficult, I thought of sitting by the side just to watch the race. However, knowing that everyone including the girls joined, it would be so awkward for me not to try, so eventually I participated in the race. All of us got into our position; the girls who participated were given an advantage of a starting line 3 meters ahead of the guy's staring line. As kru was giving us a 3 second countdown, we all braced ourselves.

The moment kru shouted "Go", all of us sprinted as fast as we could. I ran as fast as I could while focusing on the finish line ahead of me. I knew I passed by a couple of guys and girls whom were ahead of me earlier on, so I knew I wouldn't be the last one. Just a couple of centimeters ahead of me was one Malay guy; it was only him and no one behind him except me. The finishing line was just a second away from both of us and I knew it was too late to overtake him. Eventually, he ended the race in first place while I ended in 2nd. Although I didn't finish first, I was quite surprise with my ability to sprint fast. Kru then added another 2 more rounds of race; I told myself to try harder this time. As we all got ready for the second race, kru started giving us the 3 second countdown. All of the students braced themselves and as for me, I was visualizing myself ending the race in first place. All of us shot off from the starting line like a bullet the moment kru shouted "Go". This time, I applied a sprinting technique I learned from some tiger ninja scroll and the next thing I knew I was passing everyone. I managed to catch up with the same Malay guy who got first in the earlier race and I told myself that he was going down. I ran faster overtaking him and I finished the race first. Joy was in the air for me knowing that I was the champion for the second race. Everyone was looking at me and whispering to each other as I look back at them; they seemed surprise that a small weakling like me could outrun them. For the final round, I thought of cutting the students some slack. As the race began, I paused myself to give them a 5 second advantage. Kru shouted at me and told me to run as he noticed I stood still. I smiled back at him and then sprinted off to catch up with the rest. I used the ninja running technique again and I overpassed several students. As I overpassed them, I could hear some of them mumbling in surprise. Billy who was just ahead of me was not far from my reach. I ran up to the side of him and he saw me by his side. I smiled at him giving him this s0-long-sucker look before I added more speed and overpassed him. After letting him bite my dust, I looked ahead and to my surprise there were 2 guys ahead of me. The finishing line was so close and I knew it was impossible to overpass them. At the end of the 3rd race, I finished 3rd. I guess I had it coming for being to arrogant by giving the others a 5 second advantage. Nevertheless, I felt proud of myself knowing that I am a fast runner. After the race, kru started his self defense class against knife attacks.

The self defense lesson against knife attacks was slightly difficult to learn. Before kru began the class, he gave us a short speech stating there are not many good knife fighters today. Those so-called knife fighters who love to display their fancy knife fighting style in front of everybody are actually the worst knife fighters that could even be intimidated by a loud shout or a taunt. Kru added that if we ever encounter a good knife fighter, we should flee for our lives if possible. One of us then asked how would we know if our attacker is a good knife fighter. A very good question to identify our type of attacker I thought. Kru replied wisely stating that a good knife fighter will always try his/her best to conceal his/her knife behind his/her palm when he/she approach the victim in order to give an impression that he/she does not bear a dangerous weapon. A very good reason I thought seeing that an attacker who doesn't seem dangerous will lower the victim's guard. Kru continued that once the knife fighter approached the target, the knife fighter will immediately unconcealed his/her knife before going straight for the victim's vital target like the hand wrists or neck. The healthier the victim is, the faster he/she will die upon being slashed. As kru ended his speech, he then taught us the techniques to defend against knife attacks. We all tried defending ourselves against our training partner who was using a rubber knife. Some manage to get the technique right but most of us ended up in confusion which forced Kru to repeat the demonstration. The required angling and grappling moves reminded me of the ninjutsu knife defense. Disarming the knives is not as difficult, but the follow up grappling techniques to submit the attacker after disarming the knife is often confusing and difficult. At the end of the class, I managed to learn a couple of simple knife defense despite the confusion and difficulty I experienced.

After classes, we all went back to our motel for a shower and headed out again for dinner. Some of the students decided to take a cab to downtown while some decided to have dinner nearby. I followed those who decided to have dinner nearby as I felt lazy to travel far just for dinner. The 14 of us went scouting for restaurants around the beach for dinner. The service in Pangkor was indeed horrible as we had to wait for hours for our dinner. We left restaurant after restaurant in anger as we couldn't wait any longer for dinner. We decided to be more patient as we tried our luck in the final restaurant however like the earlier restaurant we visited, we had to wait long. Instead of changing restaurant, we decided to stay put as all of us were so hungry to move around. What made the situation worst was the fact that young Hazfiq was constantly whining about how hungry he is like a spoil brat. I was annoyed and I felt like ripping his head out from his spine but when I considered his young age and his wealthy family background that made him immature and spoiled, I decided to let it go and be more patient. An hour and a half later, dinner was finally served; we had ikan bakar for dinner which clearly reminded me of my Malacca trip with my Strike Team a year ago. How I miss those days hanging out with them. After dinner, the clock struck 12 midnight and we all decided to call it a day as we knew that our wake up call the next morning would be very early.

After reaching home, I immediately threw myself on the bed and started to sleep as I was very tired. With all those sleepless days ever since I came back from Canada, I was lucky to have a good night sleep until Billy who was sleeping next to me, took all the blanket for himself. I started to shiver in cold as the air conditioner was on and the fan was at a fast speed. I thought about switching the fan off and increasing the temperature for the air conditioner but looking for those switches in the dark would be a waste of time;therefore, I decided to let it go and suffer for a while. Cikgu who was sleeping on the bed next to mine noticed I was shivering, so he asked me whether was I cold. Thank God someone noticed my suffering so I immediately said "yes". He got himself out from his bed and walked to the corner of the room before switching off the fan. I was surprised that he managed to find the fan's switch in the dark. As the fan stopped, the room felt warmer and I felt much comfortable. I thank Cikgu before returning to sleep, I finally could resume my sleep in one peace again. In the middle of my sleep, I was waken by the noise of the toilet door moving. I opened my eyes to see what was going on and to my false alarm, it was just Cikgu trying to take a shower. I wondered who would take a shower at a cold early morning like this, as I wasn't really bothered, I returned to sleep. Few hours later, I heard the same thing and I opened my eyes to see what was going on again. I saw Cikgu going to the bathroom again for a shower. At that moment, I was slightly spooked as I was either experiencing deja 'vu or the phenomena of sleep walking. As long as Cikgu didn't float around the room like a ghost or climb the walls of the room frantically like a possessed person, I couldn't be bothered less. It was 5 in the morning that day and I was still sleeping, until one of my roommates hand phone rang. The repeated ring tone of some Arabic song violated the required silence for everyone's sleep, and I was slightly annoyed. The rest of my roommates weren't disturb at all as they were sleeping so peacefully, I felt jealous of my roommates as I was the only one awake and troubled by the ringing hand phone. Few minutes later, the phone stopped ringing and I managed to return to sleep. A couple of hours later, Cikgu woke me up reminding me that breakfast will be ready. I immediately got myself up, took a shower and head for the lobby of the motel for my breakfast.

We had nasi lemak for breakfast the next morning at 8 am; the rice was partially filled with sambal, sotong and ikan bakar. In the middle of our breakfast, it started to rain and the environment became gloomy. As I finished my breakfast, I returned to my room with my roommates to wait for the rain to subside. With boredom around, I borrowed some magazines from my roommates to read. Fazli who was with me in my room was doing some shadow boxing, he was constantly annoying me with his punches and his kicks as if he was challenging me to a friendly sparring match. I immediately lay down the magazine and got myself up to spar with Fazli. Billy and Cikgu was cheering for us as both of us got into our fighting stance. Fazli was tall and muscular, yet I felt no fear facing him for some unknown reason. Fazli began with a lead front kick and I deflected with a scoop out. I returned attack with a rear crocodile tail kick but he blocked with his shin. As Billy and Cikgu continue cheering for both of us, we had more spirit to fight. I gave a barrage of punches to Fazli while he tried his best to evade my attacks. The moment he duck to avoid my cross, I immediately rush my rear knee up. My kneecaps crashed against Fazli's head and he fell back, the match was over with me emerging victorious. Both of us congratulated each other for our performance after the match just like how real Muay Thai fighters do after their fight. When the rain stopped, Kru informed us to meet him at the same beach we went the day before. After changing into our training gear, all of us headed for the beach.

At the beach,we took a swim in the sea water for 10 minutes before started training. On that morning itself, Kru thought us the basics of Muay Boran, the traditional Thai martial arts. Unlike Muay Thai, Muay Boran is an older martial arts that emphasis on traditional techniques which involves catching and breaking the enemy's limbs. The basics that Kru taught us clearly reminded me of Tony Jaa from the movie,"Ong Bak" . Muay Boran was easy to learn compared to the knife fighting techniques Kru taught yesterday. I really enjoyed learning Muay Boran as it was not only easy to learn but also very graceful. After finishing our class for that morning, we all decided to go for some water sports at the other side of the beach.

I managed to ride on the "banana boat", which was what everyone calls it. To me, I call it a "Navy SEAL high speed rubber duck". The 5 of us got onto a yellow rubber boat that looked like a big banana, I was fortunate to have the front seat of the boat. The banana boat is hooked with a long rope which is attached to a high speed boat that will drag the banana boat around the sea at a very fast speed. As the speed boat in front of us accelerated very fast, the banana boat we were riding on was speeding through the sea. The speed had my adrenaline pumping and the bumpy ride made it more exciting. It really reminded me of a Navy SEAL high speed boat, that is why I called it the "Navy SEAL high speed rubber duck" instead of a "banana boat". After our water sport, we went back to the motel to get a shower before heading for the Pangkor jetty and ending our Muay Thai camp.

Although, it was just a 1 night 2 days camp, I really enjoyed myself as I made new acquaintances and learned new combat techniques. Kru said there will be another camp in Tioman next year, however I wouldn't be able to attend it as I will not be back in Malaysia for the entire next year. After returning from the Muay Thai camp in Pangkor, I realised I became darker.Nevertheless, I like the tanned color I got from Pangkor as I managed to convince my parents that I trained hard over at Pangkor.

On the ferry boarding from Lumut to Pangkor. That was my first time to the islands of Pnagkor, so I was slightly excited about the trip.
